What Is a LIMS, Exactly?

A Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) manages all the data generated in a lab: samples, methods, measurement values, recipes, analyses, and personnel assignments. It connects measurement instruments, automates data flows, and makes sure nothing gets lost or recorded incorrectly.

A LIMS reaches its full potential when it communicates openly with existing systems — spectrometers, hardness testers, ERP systems like SAP, production software, MES solutions. That’s been the design principle of [FP]-LIMS from day one.

Today, over 8,500 labs worldwide run our system — from mid-size steel mills to global automotive corporations, from fertilizer production to university research. For a deeper introduction, see our guide „What is a LIMS?“.
